Brown mustard May 13, 2016

Brown (Sarepta) mustard is sown in early spring and is ideally suited for biofumigation – the organic
Combatting of nematodes (potato cyst nematodes). This is due to the high concentrations of glucosinolates. The glucosinolates convert themselves into toxic gaseous isothiocyanate which is released when the plants get damaged. It is therefore important to process the mustard plant in the soil while the soil has to be compacted. In this way, biofumigation can contribute to a reduction in potato cyst nematodes.
